Quick facts about Immunity

The body of an average person becomes “mature” in terms of immunity between 18 and 20 years of age. Body cells use all that time from birth to learn how to deal with situations when they are threatened by viruses, bacteria and fungi. Infected by pathogenic microorganisms, the body responds by producing specialized cells, programmed to fight them. To produce antibodies - lymphocytes and phagocytes that deal with hostile cells - the body needs a continuous supply of suitable food. Vitamins and minerals derived directly from highly nutritious fresh fruit and vegetables are the basis of proper nutrition.

The body has an amazing ability to self-heal, repair damage and fight harmful cells. To work flawlessly, the immune system must be fully mature and trained to deal with harmful germs.

Saved in the immunological memory

Body cells begin to recognize and learn to fight what destroys them. They remember what antibodies or lymphocytes must be produced to get rid of harmful viruses and germs. Every day, the body produces about four thousand cancer cells. The critical T lymphocytes recognize body’s own cancer cells and can destroy them by direct contact, without the use of antibodies. This protects us from cancer. Phagocytes are scavenger cells that fight microbes attacking our body. The immune system is made up of cells distributed throughout the body, located in the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus, tonsils, bone marrow and intestines. To work properly, the immune system needs a proper diet, which ensures continued production of the right cells.

Fighting yourself

Immune system disorders include autoimmune diseases. These are all situations where your immune system attacks its own tissues, recognizing them as foreign. An allergy, when your body recognizes ordinary pollen as harmful, can be a real nightmare. This is when only a specialist can help. Especially that when your body is fighting against a misidentified enemy it is unable to mobilize and protect you from actual harmful microbes.

Make food a medicine

The body should find substances it needs to function properly in the daily diet. It is a simple and yet essential fact. Food supports the production and renewal of cells and provides substances to fight microbes. As you age, your caloric needs decrease and the demand for the right nutritional values increases. Rich in vitamins and minerals, vegetables and fruit should be the basis of everyone’s diet. The high pace of life often prevents us from paying attention to our diet, which is crucial for our existence. Physical activity is second.
